Introducing the MOXI Motion Capture Ecosystem: S100, V100, and V100-R

As inertial motion capture becomes more accessible and widely adopted, choosing the right system is no longer just about tracking accuracy. Today’s users also care about flexibility, workflow integration, and how well a solution fits their specific application. This is where the MOXI Motion Capture ecosystem shines.

Built around advanced inertial sensor technology, MOXI motion capture suits are designed to support a wide range of applications, including real-time character animation, virtual production, and robotics training. In this article, we’ll introduce the MOXI ecosystem and explain how the S100, V100, and V100-R suits cater to different needs while sharing a common technical foundation.

The MOXI Approach to Inertial Motion Capture

Created by j-mex, a Taiwan-based company with 20 years of expertise in motion sensing technology, MOXI motion capture systems are developed entirely in-house with a clear philosophy: to deliver accurate, real-time motion capture without the complexity, heavy infrastructure, or high costs commonly associated with existing solutions on the market.

At the core of the MOXI ecosystem is a full-body inertial sensing architecture. Each suit is equipped with 9-axis, 15 strategically placed IMU sensors, capturing joint rotation and body orientation in real-time. Because these sensors (trackers) are mounted directly on the body, MOXI motion capture is unaffected by occlusion, lighting conditions, or limited physical space.

The differences between MOXI suits are not about performance, but about form factor, comfort, and application focus. This design philosophy allows users to select the suit that best fits their workflow while maintaining consistent data quality across the entire ecosystem.

MOXI MoCap Suit S100: Designed for Immersive Performance

The MOXI S100 is a clothing-based motion capture suit, consisting of a dedicated vest and pants available in different sizes. Its design emphasizes comfort and stability, making it ideal for creators who need consistent tracking during long sessions.

MOXI MoCap Suit V100: Flexible and Adaptable

The MOXI V100 takes a different approach with a strap-based and bulletproof vest-style design. This makes it easy to wear over regular clothing and allows for quick changes between multiple users.

MOXI MoCap Suit V100-R: Motion Capture for Robotics Application

The MOXI V100-R extends the ecosystem into robotics and AI applications. While it uses the same strap-and-vest hardware as the V100, it is paired with software tailored for robotics workflows.

Distinct Software Solutions for Different Applications

The MOXI ecosystem includes three dedicated software solutions, each optimized for a specific workflow. MOXI Player is the primary software, handling general motion capture, recording, playback, and more. MOXI Vista focuses on VTuber and VRChat applications. MOXI Player for Robot is designed for robotics applications and supports features such as URDF importing.

The ecosystem also includes MOXI SDK and MOXI Receiver, which allow developers and technical users to stream motion data into external engines such as Unity and Unreal, offering flexible integration across a wide range of applications.

Choosing the Right MOXI Motion Capture Suit

Selecting between the S100, V100, and V100-R primarily depends on your workflow and application, rather than technical limitations. Each suit is optimized for a particular type of user while remaining part of the same unified ecosystem.

Whether your goal is real-time performance, flexible multi-user capture, or high-precision data for robotics, MOXI provides a solution that adapts and scales to your needs.
